Pakistan

The Taliban overran a Frontier Corps post in Arakzai and killed five troops, including a senior officer; 21 Taliban fighters were killed in the counterattack. The Punjabi Taliban named Abuzar Khanjari the new leader of the Qari Zafar group. The US will spend $40 million to help build roads in Peshawar and Malakand.


United States

Prosecutors charged a Chicago taxi driver with plotting an attack and providing material support to al Qaeda by transferring money overseas to the terror group. Raja Lahrasib Khan, a Pakistan-born US citizen, also has ties to al Qaeda leader Ilyas Kashmiri.

Somalia

Two civilians were killed in a mortar attack in the northern part of Mogadishu. Afghanistan

Coalition and Afghan forces detained an undisclosed number of Taliban fighters in Marja in Helmand province. Two civilians were accidentally killed during an exchange of fire with the Taliban in Khost province on March 24. A dispute between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan has prevented some NATO supplies from reaching Afghansitan.
