Five civilians were killed in heavy shelling in Mogadishu. Kenyan police arrested a Somali-American as he and two associates attempted to fly to Somalia. Hashi Hussein Farah, who escaped from Kenya last weekend, is believed to be a major al Qaeda-linked fundraiser for Shabaab. The government is planning to launch its offensive to retain the control of 10 districts in Mogadishu “in the coming week.”
