Afghan and Coalition forces killed “several” Taliban fighters during fighting in Zabul and Kandahar provinces. Three Coalition troops and an interpreter were killed in an attack in Wardak province. Kandahar security officials were sacked over the Sarposa prison break.
US names al Qaeda emir of Mosul killed during raid

22 Taliban killed in attacks on three district centers in eastern Afghanistan
Afghan police fend off attacks on two district centers in Paktika province and one in Paktia province. The attacks are originating from Pakistan, said a senior US general in Afghanistan.
