US escalating covert operations against Iran





Iraq

Iraqi security forces detained the leader of the Basrah Sadrist office in Amarah and 12 “terrorists” in Basrah. Iraq forces detained 43 insurgents in Baghdad and 10 in Kirkuk. Five al Qaeda operatives were detained in Mosul and two leaders in Diyala.




Al Qaeda

A British court ordered the release of an unnamed senior al Qaeda in Europe leader. The man is an Algerian who has recruited, trained, and facilitated operations for al Qaeda operatives to conduct attacks in the US and Europe. He ran his operations from the Finsbury Park Mosque.


Iran

Satterfield: Hezbollah is training Iraqi fighters


Lebanon

Two Lebanese were killed and 20 wounded in a bomb blast in a predominately Sunni neighborhood in Tripoli. Lebanese troops are deploying to the neighborhood. The US said Syrian troops are still deployed inside Lebanon.


Iran

Iran would shut down oil shipments in the Persian Gulf if attacked, said Major General Jafari, the head of the Revolutionary Guards Corps. Iran threatened to sue the European Union for imposing sanctions. An Iranian man is being tried for spying for Israel.
