An anti-Syrian member of parliament was assassinated in a car bombing in Beirut. Five others were killed and 20 wounded in the attack. Antoine Ghanem, a member of the Christian Phalange Party and part of the ruling Coalition, is the eighth prominent anti-Syrian leader assassinated since 2005.
