Taliban: 'Mujahida sister' executed Kunar suicide attack

The Taliban have claimed credit for a suicide attack in the Marawara district in Kunar province, Afghanistan, that killed three interpreters. The Taliban released a statement on their propaganda website, Voice of Jihad, and claimed that a "Mujahida sister" killed 12 US and Afghan troops:

According to the witnesses, the martyr attack was carried out on the joint enemy's military convoy by a brave Mujahida sister who laid down her life with indomitable courage and selfless sacrifice in the cause of her country killing more than 12 soldiers of joint enemy besides wounding scores more.

In reality, three interpreters for US forces were killed. TOLONews confirmed that a female did indeed carry out the attack:

Three interpreters of foreign troops were killed after a woman suicide bomber targeted their convoy in eastern Kunar province, provincial officials said on Saturday.

A burka-clad woman suicide bomber targeted a convoy of foreign troops in Marwara district in Kunar province today at noon killing three interpreters of foreign forces, Police Chief of Kunar province said.

A senior al Qaeda and Taliban commander named Qari Zia Rahman operates in Kunar and Nuristan, and commands military forces on both sides of the Afghan-Pakistani border. The terrorist commander has established training camps for female suicide bombers in both Pakistan and in Kunar in Afghanistan.

There have been two other suicide attacks carried out by female suicide bombers along the Afghan-Pakistan border in the past year.

A female suicide bomber struck for the first time in Afghanistan in Kunar province on June 21, 2010. Two US soldiers were killed and two Afghan children were wounded in the attack. Qari Zia claimed credit for the bombing.

The next female suicide attack took place on Dec. 24, 2010, in Pakistan's tribal agency of Bajaur. The suicide bomber killed 42 Pakistani civilians in an attack at a World Food Program ration distribution point.

Why were you looking at the so called propaganda website in the first place?

Part of my job is to read what they have to say. I wanted to see if they took ownership for a female suicide bomber. Which they did.

Good job Bill. You have to pay attention to your enemy and propaganda they are putting out. That is why the AQ is always watching what our media is putting out.

This makes me wonder, do Taliban approve of burka-clad female suicide bombers walking alone into a Afghan/coalition convoy? How close to the target would they insist on her being escorted by a suitable relative? How much do they discard those rules when they train female suicide bombers?
