Regime forces, opposition fighters, and aid organizations cooperated to evacuate 1,800 civilians from the besieged town of Mouadamiya near Damascus, but thousands remain trapped inside. Syria’s deputy prime minister was dismissed for an unauthorized meeting with US officials to discuss peace proposals. The leader of the Omar bin al-Khattab battalion was assassinated in Deir Izzour. Video surfaced of a Syrian parliamentarian kidnapped by Ahrar al-Sham Islamic Movement and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham in Deir Izzour; also kidnapped were 71 men from the village of al-Shamitiya. A Tunisian foreign fighter was filmed desecrating a statue of the Virgin Mary. Kurdish YPG forces claimed control over several villages and an oil company in Hasakah; the Tawhid and Jihad brigade surrendered weapons to YPG, including a tank and two multiple rocket launchers. YPG fighters clashed with the Al Nusrah Front, the ISIS, and rebels in Raqqah. Rebels clashed with a sharia council in Aleppo. ISIS, Al Nusrah, Ahrar al Sham Islamic battalion, and al-Baz Islamic battalion attacked a Kurdish village in Aleppo. A hooded gunman with a silenced weapon killed a reporter in the Aleppo village of Hreitan.
