Coalition forces detained four Hezbollah Brigades fighters in Abd ar Rahman and seven al Qaeda operatives in central and northern Iraq. Four Iraqi police recruits were murdered in Mosul. An Iraqi court convicted one man for the brutal murder of three US soldiers.

US troops killed 12 Taliban during the recovery of the downed Blackhawk helicopter in Wardak province. Coalition troops killed one Haqqani network operative and captured seven during operations in Ghazni province. One Coalition soldier was killed in an IED attack in western Afghanistan.

Iraq’s spokesman said yesterday’s strike inside Syria was aimed at a network facilitating attacks against Iraq. “The attacked area was the scene of activities of terrorist groups operating from Syria against Iraq,” Ali al-Dabbagh said. “Iraq had asked Syria to hand over this group which uses Syria as a base for its terrorist activities.”
