Kidnapped Japanese national, Kazuya Ito, was found beaten to death in eastern Afghanistan one day after Taliban gunmen abducted him and his driver. Various clashes left approximately 30 insurgents and four police killed over the last 24 hours. Nearly 40 Taliban were killed during a massive security operation in eastern Paktika province.
