“A number of insurgents were killed” during two operations targeting a Taliban leader in the Kajaki district of Helmand province.The governor of Kandahar escaped an assassination attempt; three police were killed in the blast. The deputy commander of Canada’s battle group recommended an additional brigade be deployed to Kandahar. “If countries like Germany and France were not so afraid of committing forces, this problem would be solved readily,” said Major Richard Moffet.
