NATO denies Taliban killed US general, 3 soldiers

After ignoring numerous false Taliban claims that it killed dozens of US soldiers, Resolute Support – NATO’s mission in Afghanistan – today denied the Taliban’s latest boast: that it killed four US soldiers, including a general. Resolute Support issued the following statement on Twitter:

Here is the Taliban claim, from Voice of Jihad:

According to information, an American APC was blown apart by a powerful IED during the fighting in Du Balola area, killing 4 invaders aboard including a General whereas 14 hireling gunmen were also killed in the clashes and several others including a high ranking commander wounded.

Resolute Support’s decision to refute the Taliban’s false claim is curious. For the past Year, Resolute Support has refused to address fake Taliban casualty reports. Last week, after Resolute Support jumped on an erroneous report from the Islamic State claiming to have killed two US troops, FDD’s Long War Journal documented 11 cases of fallacious reports, with 45 American deaths claimed, including a general.
