The UN said over half of the country’s 4.6 million population needs humanitarian aid, and that sectarian tensions have risen to a crisis level. Amnesty International said fighters affiliated with the Seleka coalition have been carrying out “unprecedented” crimes against civilians, including executions, torture, rape, and the recruitment of child soldiers. The predominantly Muslim coalition was officially disbanded in September but its fighters are continuing to terrorize civilians, using foreign fighters from Chad and Sudan as well as over 3,000 child soldiers. Nearly 400,000 people have fled their homes.

Lauri Love, 28, of Stradishall, England, was arrested on Oct. 25 at his home and charged with disrupting the operations and infrastructure of the US government by hacking into US government systems, including those of the Army, the Pentagon’s Missile Defense Agency, NASA, and the EPA. Love was accused along with two or three co-conspirators believed to be in Sweden and Australia who have not been charged. He is currently free on bail in England.
