The Taliban killed three ISAF soldiers in two IED attacks in the south and three civilians in a rocket attack in Paktia. Security forces killed and captured several Taliban and IMU commanders and fighters in Kandahar, Helmand, Uruzgan, Khost, Logar, Kabul, and Kunduz.

Insurgents killed a policeman in a bombing in Mosul. The commander of the 7th Iraqi Army Division dodged an IED attack in Anbar; his driver was killed in the attack.


Nigeria

A Boko Haram assault team attacked a police station in Gobi with bombs and gunfire, killing four policemen and a soldier. The militants then stormed into two local banks, shot seven bank workers dead, wounded four more, and fled with money stolen from the banks. Libya

Rebels continue to battle loyalist resistance in Tripoli, Sirte, and Sahba. The search for Gaddafi himself is ongoing. National Transitional Council head Mahmoud Jabril asked for Western financial aid to help restore services and stabilize the country.



Algeria

Gunmen killed two traffic policemen in Bordj Bouararidj and stole their weapons; one other man was injured in the attack. Most of the increasingly numerous attacks in Algeria have been claimed by al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.
