A Taliban suicide bomber killed the Afghan police commander for the north and the police chief of Takhar and two Afghans and two German soldiers, and wounded ISAF’s commander in the north and the governor of Takhar. The Taliban killed an ISAF soldier in the south. Security forces killed and captured several Taliban commanders and fighters in Helmand, Kandahar, Zabul, Khost, Paktika, Wardak, Kunduz, and Sar-i-Pul.
