Somalia

A Somali-American from Minneapolis who was helping the new prime minister was gunned down in Mogadishu. An African Union commander said 12,000 more troops are needed in Somalia.


Yemen

A suicide bomber attacked a group of mourners traveling to the funeral of Badruddin al Houthi, the spiritual leader of the Shia Houthi rebels. One person was killed. The US Ambassador to Yemen said Anwar al Awlaki was involved in the recent airline parcel plot.


Saudi Arabia

The Interior Ministry said that over the past eight months, security forces detained 149 suspected terrorists, including 125 Saudis, who belonged to 19 different al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula cells across the country. The AQAP cells were plotting attacks against the government as well as journalists.



Iran

Iran plans to insist on nuclear proliferation rights at the Dec. 5 meeting with Western governments. Tehran donated funds for rebuilding and project development in the Gaza Strip. The EU passed a resolution urging the US to remove People’s Mujahideen of Iran from the list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations.





Pakistan

Top Balochistan minister alleges extrajudicial killings


Afghanistan

Security forces killed and captured several Taliban and Haqqani Network commanders and fighters in Uruzgan, Ghazni, Khost, and Logar. The Taliban killed an ISAF soldier in the south.


Pakistan

The military killed eight Taliban fighters in artillery strikes in Arakzai. The Taliban killed two soldiers in IED attacks in South Waziristan and Hangu. A US court summoned the Inter-Services Intelligence directorate and the head of Lashkar-e-Taiba.


Iraq

Insurgents killed three civilians in an IED attack in Tal Afar and another civilian in a grenade attack in Mosul. An insurgent was killed in a premature detonation in Al Biaj northwest of Mosul.


Somalia

A Somali official said that NGOs are providing aid to Shabaab. Six African Union soldiers were arrested for opening fire on civilians in Mogadishu. A US court convicted five Somalis of piracy.


Yemen

Security officials claimed several Shabaab operatives have been detained in camps for Somali refugees in the south. Yemen’s Endowments Minister claimed Shia Houthis and al Qaeda were operating together to attack the state.


Iran

Supreme Leader Khamenei called the radical Basij militia a “clear, great and shining truth.” The EU urged the US to remove the People’s Mujahideen of Iran (MEK) from its list of terror organizations.
