Pakistan

The US killed two Taliban fighters in a strike in North Waziristan. Security forces killed eight Taliban fighters in Arakzai. Four people were wounded in two low-intensity bombings in a market in Karachi.




United States

The US will send Mohammed Odaini from the Guatanamo Bay detention facility back to Yemen after a federal judge ordered his release. The government will not oppose his transfer despite a ban on sending detainees back to Yemen due to the security situation.


Iraq

Insurgents killed an Iraqi soldier and a policeman in Mosul. Security forces detained 11 wanted men in Basra and Diyala, two Mahdi Army fighters north of Baghdad, and two al Qaeda operatives in Wasit. A US soldier died in a vehicle accident in Diwaniyah.




Zimbabwe

Police arrested two Pakistanis traveling to South Africa to watch the World Cup. The men were identified as Imran Muhammad and Chaudry Parvez Ahmed. One of the men is said to be wanted by INTERPOL for terrorist activities.


Afghanistan

Security forces killed 18 Taliban fighters in Zabul; eight, including a commander, in Kunduz; and a commander in Logar. The Taliban killed three ISAF soldiers in the south and three civilians in a suicide attack in Uruzgan.


Iran

The G8 members said its members “are profoundly concerned by Iran™s continued lack of transparency regarding its nuclear activities.” Three US hikers declared as spies may have been captured inside Iraq. The deputy oil minister said Iran would be able to fully refine its own gasoline by 2013.

Indonesia

Abdullah Sunata’s arrest has revealed that his terror cell was planning to attack the Danish Embassy in Jakarta and the police headquarters in Depok, West Java, on July 1st, the police forces’ 60th anniversary. Noordin Mohammad Top’s father-in-law is on trial for providing financial support and hiding terrorist members of Jemaah Islamiyah.






Pakistan

Security forces killed 10 Taliban fighters in Arakzai and detained a Taliban commander in Karachi. Eight Taliban fighters surrendered in Bajaur. The Taliban bombed two NATO fuel tankers in Peshawar. The US will ship three F-16 fighters to the Pakistan Air Force.




Iraq

Security forces detained an Iranian man and a Sudanese man who were “wanted” in Mosul, and six al Qaeda operatives in Mosul and near Baghdad. Insurgents kidnapped two oil ministry employees in Jalawlaa.
