Al Qaeda

The US Department of Defense has charged Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani with nine counts of terrorism, six of which carry the death sentence. Ghailani is an an al Qaeda leader from Tanzania who is behind the August 1998 bombing of the US embassy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, which killed 11 people and injured hundreds. He was plotting attacks against the West at the time of his capture.
