Pakistan

The Pakistan People’s Party is set to win the election as both Musharraf and the pro-Taliban Muttahida Majlis-e-Amil suffered heavy defeats at the polls. The Awami National Party won the provincial election in the Northwest Frontier Province. Twenty-seven were killed in election day violence. The Wazir and Daur tribes signed a vague “agreement” with the North Waziristan political administration to oppose “extremism” and “terrorism.”
