Special Operations Forces killed Abu Usama al Tunis, a Tunisian al Qaeda in Iraq leader, during a raid in in Musayyib. Al Tunis was the emir of all of al Qaeda in Iraq foreign fighters and was a likely successor to Abu Ayyub al Masri. “Al Tunisi facilitated foreign terrorists and helped equip them for improvised explosive device attacks, car-bombing campaigns and suicide attacks throughout Baghdad,” Multinational Forces Iraq stated.
