Afghan and NATO forces killed 27 Taliban in fighting in Helmand and Ghazni province. Three police were killed in a suicide attack in Ghazni province. The governor of Ghazni claimed two Taliban commanders involved in the kidnapping of South Koreans were killed. President Karzai urged Canada to extend its mission beyond 2009, while Poland extended for another year.
