Iraq

Saddam Hussein was transferred to the Iraqi government and immediately executed by hanging. His last words were “Down with the traitors, the Americans, the spies and the Persians.” Saddam was buried in his home town of Awja, near Tikrit. About 75 Iraqis were killed and 125 wounded during attacks throughout the country, including a large suicide bombing in Kufa.
