Bin Laden threatens further attacks against the US

Osama bin Laden’s latest tape, entitled “From Osama to Obama.”

The leader of al Qaeda has released an audiotape praising the Christmas Eve bomber and threatening more attacks against the US if its support for Israel continues.

Osama bin Laden released a one-minute-long audiotape entitled “From Osama to Obama.” The tape, which displayed an old image of Osama, was given to Al Jazeera. US intelligence officials contact by The Long War Journal believe that the tape is authentic.

On the tape, Osama takes credit for the Christmas Eve bombing attempt over Detroit that was carried out by Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab.

“If our messages to you could be carried by words we wouldn’t have done that by planes,” Osama says. “The message I want to convey to you through the plane of the hero, mujahid Umar al Farouk [Abdulmutallab] reaffirms a previous message that the heroes of 9/11 conveyed to you and was repeated frequently.”

Osama says al Qaeda will continue to attack the United States as it fails to understand that its support for Israel is intolerable.

“The message is that America will never dream of peace unless we live it in Palestine,” Osama continued. “It is unfair that you should a safe life while our brothers in Gaza are suffer greatly therefore with God’s will our attacks on you will continue to (as long as you support) Israel.”

Al Qaeda often attempts to latch onto the Palestinian cause to garner support in the Arab and Muslim world. Ayman al Zawahiri, Osama’s deputy, frequently brings up the issue of the Israel-Palestinian conflict. Zawahiri often levels criticism at Hamas for participating in elections, carrying out negotiations with Israel and the West, and failing to take part in the global jihad.

Al Qaeda-linked groups have a small presence in the Gaza strip, the small region ruled by Hamas. In August 2009, Hamas attacked the Jund Ansar Allah, an al Qaeda-linked terror group, and killed its leader, its military commander, and scores of followers.

Osama bin Laden’s latest tape is the first released since September 2009. In that audiotape, Osama urged the Europeans to abandon Afghanistan and end their support for the US.

Text of Osama bin Laden’s statement:

In the name of God the most passionate the most merciful. From Osama to Obama.

“May peace be on those who follow the light of guidance. If our messages to you could be carried by words we wouldn’t have done that by planes. The message I want to convey to you through the plane of the hero, mujahid Umar al Farouk [Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab] reaffirms a previous message that the heroes of 9/11 conveyed to you and was repeated frequently. The message is that America will never dream of peace unless we live it in Palestine. It is unfair that you should a safe life while our brothers in Gaza are suffer greatly therefore with God’s will our attacks on you will continue to (as long as you support) Israel. Peace be on those who follow the light of guidance.”

If Osama really cared for the Palestine people or Muslims in general he would be helping them instead of using them as a crutch for his misguided thoughts. He lives in hiding since he knows just about any Muslim would help direct a missle to his location.

  • The tape is fake as Osama is NOT alive.

Does anybody notice a pattern here? Another audio tape. Why no video with it? And, at least it appears, the audiotapes are getting shorter and shorter in duration.
I’m almost willing to bet that this guy spends at least a significant amount of his time maybe on a kidney dialysis machine. Or, he’s been wounded. Or, he could be like that scum bag Fort Hood shooter; bedridden and/or paralyzed from the chest down.
If I had my way, we’d be looking at least at the possibility of using underground nuclear detonations to make this cave-dweller’s cave his grave.

There is nothing “misguided” about Al-Qaeda’s agenda. they are clearly guided..and ofcourse they give a damn about Palestinians and pretty much everybody else. This tactic will only work against Wimpy Europeans..namely Spain for one.

  • IK says:

Until after 9/11, AQ never mentioned the Palestinians, and did nothing to support them, as evident by the almost 0 Palestinians in AQ. It was only after Osama and the rest of his rats got chased into various caves and mud huts in Pakistan that they realized that they could tie into a ready made support network of leftists who hate Isreal. Thus, the now steady stream of “Oh we love you Palestine!” statements from AQ.

What gives with the sudden media blitz? Gahdan, Zawahiri, Zawahri’s wife, now the big cheese himself. How many coded strike messages did they pass this time?
    ===
IK: That is incorrect. al-Qaeda’s very first public pronouncements and fatwa’s in the late 1990’s expressly mentioned the Palestinians, Israel, and Jews. This isn’t surprising as at the time the bulk of al-Qaeda’s manpower came from Zawahiri’s Egyptian Islamic Jihad group.
Zawahiri wrote the 1998 fatwa for the “International Islamic Front for Jihad Against Jews and Crusaders.”

It is apparent that the AQ needs to get their nose bloodied going up against the Israelis until they catch on.
I remember when the Egyptians decided enough was enough. In a man on the street interview with a local who was asked to comment on the Egyptian-Israeli peace accord, he was asked if he supported it. Surprisingly, he said yes. When asked why, he responded, “The Palestinians want to fight the Israelis down to the last Egyptian!”

    At IK –
That’s very true. Although the some Palestinians celebrated 9/11, I haven’t seen anything that shows that Al-Qaeda had the Palestinian issue as their major reason for attacking the US. Up for correction though.
BUT Notice the title of the audio: “Osama to Obama”.
It’s almost like schoolboy bullying. Here is this “legendary, veteran” jihad-holy man telling the younger, also non-white President Obama, that basically Al-Qaeda “isn’t scared of you but you better be scared of me” type of logic.
    Very shallow and very explicit.

Lets not forget the original demands of bi Laden.
The primary one is removal of US troops from Saudi Arabia.
His development into a fanatic was based on this, according to Lawrence Wright’s Looming Tower.

I’m surprised by the shortness of the tape too.
But the time it took to come out also says something about UBL – he’s hidden someplace with (I suspect) a hand by hand courier/deaddrop system to move these messages out to keep from revealing his location. I’m pretty sure he and his entourage use nothing electronic to avoid revealing their location to “technical means”.
I doubt there is any coded info in this message. Keeping UBL away from everyone seems to be a primary goal: he could be ill; changed his appearance or just wants to minmize the info he gives away. I’d look for “coded info” in AZ messages. UBL is just a figurehead now.
I think the Chapman suicide attack showed that the CIA is probably thinking the same thing too. They offered AZ (not UBL) as the bait. I think they consider that’s a more believable stance.

    James,
Could it be that OBL has shaved off his beard, chucked off his std garb for blue jeans and a t-shirt and living happily in Karachi?
What we do know is that he is NOT impersonating being a Spanish MP, even if he’s had some plastic surgery.
Or maybe he is dead as the captain says and as Bhutto/Zardari have claimed. Only i do find it strange that there aren’t authentications of the recorded voice independent of the US Govt available.
Anyway, i’d like to see that Egyptian Z-guy found.

  • Peacock says:

I completely share CaptainJohann feeling that these audio tapes are apocryphal and Osama bin Laden has been dead for years.

  • Stu says:

Except for Zawahiri, who is always ringing the Palestinian bell, the last worthless thug to champion the Palestinian cause was Saddam Hussein. Lest they forget, the Kuwaitis got a bitter taste of Palestian hospitality after Saddam unleashed hundreds of Palestinian criminals into Kuwait in the first Gulf War. These fellow Arabs proceeded to loot Kuwaiti households and rape Kuwaiti girls and wives to teach the rich Kuwaitis a lesson in redistribution of wealth. I’m sure there are many kind and humble Palestinians, but the idiots that Saddam let loose in Kuwait City ran as fast as they could back to Gaza when they realized the Americans were coming. So to hear this self-appointed apostle of Hate succor the Palestinians is like the seeing the Ghost of Saddam all over again. May UBL suffer for three hundred thousand years with Saddam, Hitler, Pol Pot, and the rest in the center of hell after his day of Judgement.

OBL is dead and both sides know it. Each has their own reasons for perpetuating his continued evil and mythical existence.

  • Render says:

Got a body? Got DNA? The warrant is Dead or Alive.
Has the Black Guard been disbanded? Why would al-Q continue to raise, equip, and train a special unit whose sole reason for existence is to protect OBL, if OBL is dead?
CIA says that in spite of closing Alec Station in ’05, they state that they still have people whose jobs are dedicated to finding OBL.
He’s still on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list.
Stan McChrystal is convinced he’s still alive and testified before Congress to that effect.
