The Long War Journal sets the following policies for the use of affiliated sites and services:

By using the Service, you agree to be bound by these terms of use. If you do not agree to these terms of use, please exit the Service. We reserve the right, at our discretion, to modify, add, or delete portions of these terms at any time by posting updated terms of use on The Long War Journal Web sites. Please check these terms frequently for updates. Any modifications, additions, or deletions to these terms shall be effective immediately upon posting of updated terms of use. Your continued use of the Service following the posting of updated terms of use will mean that you agree to those changes.


The Comments section of The Long War Journal is intended to provide a forum to discuss and debate current posts. We make no warranty as to the accuracy of readers’ comments, nor do we condone or affirm the opinions of reader-based comments. Discuss the issue at hand and do not go off topic. The Comments section is not a place for a partisan debates. Please be courteous to your fellow commenters. Personal attacks on the editors, authors, or readers of our sites will not be permitted. Please refer to current and former elected officials and public leaders respectfully. Offensive language, cursing (including replacing letters with characters), racial or ethnic slurs, and sexist remarks will not be tolerated. In the interest of keeping the Comments section readable, please post a link to any articles you wish to cite and excerpt the portions of the article that make your points; any comments with the full article will be edited.

Commenters will be required to register an e-mail address with The Long War Journal and are encouraged to submit their website or URL also. E-mail addresses will not be published to the site; however, if it is determined that an address given is false, the comment will be removed.

We reserve the right to edit, delete, or decline to publish any comments that violate this policy, and to prevent any repeat offender from commenting.


The contents of all of our sites are protected by US and international copyright laws. All web-based content and services offered by us are limited to personal and noncommercial use, unless otherwise specified. Content may not be modified, copied, distributed, transmitted, or reproduced in any form, including derivative works, without the prior explicit approval of The Long War Journal. Individuals and noncommercial users may quote, excerpt, and link to content, so long as appropriate attribution is given to The Long War Journal.


Our affiliated sites contain images and excerpts from third-party sources, the use of which has not necessarily been preauthorized. When information is available to us, ownership of such material is declared. It is made available for the purpose of commentary, analysis, and discussion, as well as to expand public awareness of issues relating to the Long War.

From time to time, and on a case-by-case basis, we publish public service announcements judged to be of interest to our readers.
