IDF reports significant drop in West Bank terrorism in 2025

An assessment published by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) this week points to a sharp reduction in Palestinian-perpetrated terrorist activity across the West Bank in 2025. The IDF attributed the decline to sustained counterterrorism operations in the territory throughout last year. However, despite the figures, there are signs that West Bank terrorist organizations are attempting to renew their efforts.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and other security personnel conducted an operation in the West Bank city of Ramallah to seize funds destined for Hamas. The effort was linked to a broader military campaign that began earlier this year, targeting Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and other terrorist organizations.


Syria detains two members of Palestinian Islamic Jihad

Security forces of the new Syrian transitional government in Damascus detained two Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) members, according to various media reports. The two arrested PIJ members are Khaled Khaled, who is in charge of the group’s operations in Syria, and Yasser al Zafari, who is described as heading PIJ’s organizational committee. Saraya al Quds, the military wing of PIJ, called for the men to be released.

Rockets fired at Ashkelon from Gaza as IDF continues Gaza operations

Two rockets were fired at the Israeli city of Ashkelon from Gaza. The IDF operated in the Zeitoun neighborhood near Gaza City to eliminate terrorist threats. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant visited the Netzarim Corridor on September 8 and vowed the IDF would eliminate Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. In southern Gaza, the IDF continued to clash with Hamas terrorists in Rafah and carried out airstrikes against Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad targets.
