Egypt arrests al Qaeda-linked Benghazi suspect

Muhammad-Jamal-al-Kashef.jpgEgypt has arrested Muhammad Jamal al Kashef (a.k.a. Abu Ahmed), a terrorist with direct, longstanding ties to al Qaeda’s leadership. Some of the terrorists responsible for the Sept. 11 terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya were trained in his camps. He is also part of the jihadist network that incited protesters in Cairo earlier that same day.


Zawahiri eulogizes Salafi jihadist killed in Gaza

On Thursday, a message from Ayman al Zawahiri eulogizing Abu al Walid al Maqdisi, a founder of the Tawhid and Jihad Group in Jerusalem and a former leader of the Mujahideen Shura Council in the Environs of Jerusalem, was released to jihadist forums.



Ansar al Sharia Egypt releases founding statement

Ashush.jpgAnsar al Sharia Egypt has released a statement outlining its 16 goals. In addition to working toward the implementation of sharia law, the group says it will support the mujahideen opposed to the “Zionist-Crusader” coalition. The group is headed by Ahmed Ashush, a jihadist with longstanding ties to al Qaeda.


Zawahiri calls on Muslims to implement sharia

While ignoring the toll that al Qaeda’s violence has taken inside the Muslim world, Zawahiri says that Muslims must resist the “Crusader” alliance and implement sharia law.





Egypt arrests pro-al Qaeda jihadist tied to Benghazi suspect

Shehato-MEMRI.jpgSheikh ‘Adel Shehato, a senior Egyptian jihadist who helped instigate the Sept. 11 protest in Cairo, has been arrested in Egypt. Authorities allege that he was the founder of the Nasr City terrorist cell. Members of the cell are reportedly connected to the terrorist attack on the US consulate in Benghazi.

Jamal has longstanding ties to Ayman al Zawahiri and his younger brother, Mohammed al Zawahiri.



CNN interviews Mohamed al Zawahiri

CNN interviewed the brother of al Qaeda emir Ayman al Zawahiri. Mohamed al Zawahiri is just one of many known and suspected terrorists to be freed from Egyptian prisons since the fall of Hosni Mubarak’s regime.



Latest issue of Inspire highlights al Qaeda succession

OBL-Inspire.jpgAQAP has released the sixth edition of its Inspire magazine. In it, Osama bin Laden is praised as a martyr. Inspire’s editors also praise the selection of Ayman al Zawahiri as al Qaeda’s new emir. Two other al Qaeda affiliates have already sworn their allegiance to Zawahiri.
