Clashes between supporters and opponents of former president Morsi wounded 112 people in Suez, and left at least four people dead near Cairo. A health ministry official said 21 people have been killed in attacks in the Sinai since Morsi’s ouster. Authorities arrested 18 terrorists who were reportedly planning attacks on foreign embassies, and extended the detention of seven people accused of forming a terrorist group. The family of former president Morsi said they plan to take legal action against the army, which they accuse of abducting Morsi. The EU said the Egyptian army should step aside and not play a role in politics. A senior Muslim Brotherhood official called on Egyptians to besiege the US Embassy for its alleged role in Morsi’s ouster. Militants attacked at least two security checkpoints in the Sinai.
