Pakistan ‘promising peace to the world’

A video version of Pakistan’s controversial print advertisement that touted its role in the war against terrorist groups has emerged on the Internet. To view a copy of the print ad, see Threat Matrix report, Pakistan places ad in US paper touting efforts against al Qaeda.

Meanwhile, the US continues its three-year-long quest to pressure the Pakistani military to move against terrorist groups in North Waziristan, including the Haqqani Network, which shelters al Qaeda and conducts attacks against US, NATO, and Afghan forces and civilians. Pakistan has skillfully resisted repeated American pleas, despite the fact that the same terrorist groups based in North Waziristan (and elsewhere in Pakistan) also strike its own people.

So whats wrong about this ad. Everything shown is a fact. Biased people like you Bill will give it negative meaninig. Why is the US not able to root out taliban from Afghanistan despite all its resources and expecting Pakistan to take on Haqqani net work when it is facing daily suicide attacks on its soil resulting in killings of innocents beside material damage just because it challenged a few of their sancturies.
Now taking on Haqqani net work will let lose hell for its population. The only answer for peace in Adghanistan is let the afghans decide amongst themselves without foriegn interference. Learn from Afghan history otherwise this war will never bring peace to Afghanistan

I do not see it unusual, after reading Pakistan
ordnance factory products like banned cluster
bombs etc were sold in London Docklands
DSEI ( Defense Systems Exhibition International)
Sept 13-16. They were also offering gold coated
sub machine guns for collectors! Then at the
intervention of a Green member of House of
Commons parliament shut out of the trade fair
permanently. This year, there were already more
than a dozen military trade fair circuit exhibitions.
beginning in Brunei during February. Six more
are planned. The last one would be at Lebanon
just after Christmas ending on New Year eve!
The ban covers only the British sponsored trade
fair. The French, Russian etc remain open for
    secret sales of terrorist weapons!

Joe, you say, “The only answer for peace in Adghanistan is let the afghans decide amongst themselves without foriegn interference. Learn from Afghan history otherwise this war will never bring peace to Afghanistan.” But Afghan history shows that when the US left it to Afghanistan in the 1980s the result was Taliban rule, nationwide repression and an al-Qaida safe haven. Do you want a return to that?

“The only answer for peace in Adghanistan is let the afghans decide amongst themselves without foriegn interference.”
Hey joe, tell us who you are and with what credibility you come and tell us “The only answer”?
By the way, have you noticed any Pakistani (ie foreign) interference in Afghanistan in recent decades? Or are you living in Cuckoo-Land?
My pen is my sword and its drawn. Go back to your history books.

    @ Joe
Yes this is what Bill is trying to point out.
You are right the facts are correct, Pakistani has suffered a devastating toll in loss of human life during this war and has spent millions. However despite this they still do not move on Terrror Groups acting with impunity in the FATA areas of their country. As you say these networks kill their citizens and troops in suicide bombing so why do they not make any serious attempt to wipe them out?
It is this double standard that is the problem. Bill is merely demostrating their hypocrisy. They propose world peace yet do not seem serious about securing it for their own people.
Pakistans ISI and its support of Taliban groups in Afghanistan as its proxy force to provide them with a malleable neighbour does not help.
Yes Afghan history shows us that it is a country that has for almost its entire existence been subject to invasion after invasion and foreign ruler after foreign ruler. Yes give the Afghanis a chance to decide for themselves, thats called democracy, or we pull out and let the Taliban remove that choice or watch as the country falls into another civil war.

Joe, so what you are saying, basically, is that the us should leave so that Pakistan can be the only outside interference. Are you being deceptive or just lying “Joe”

  • Villiger says:

Rich stuff from a poor, pathetic Govt and Army that cannot provide peace to its own people, offering peace to the world.
Laughable, but not a laughing matter.
Zardari, Gilani, Kayani: You have amply demonstrated through your cheap PR tactics that you have lost the plot. Moreover, you are totally out of touch with the reality of what the world thinks of you. We’ll consider your ads an act of desperation to deflect from your corruption and your mischief. The war is coming to you, slowly but surely. You ain’t seen nothin’ yet. And you will be the first guys to jump on a plane to Dubai when your people awaken to the real facts of the ride you have taken them for. Tell us about the loss of the $68 billion you never had…

  • hillbilly says:

    villiger,
    since you are asking for it so let me give you something without any sugar coating;
    1) we do not consider america a friend , we dont care about the loss of american life. we consider america a hypocrite enemy.
    2) we will do every thing to get the americans out of this region .
    3) we do not consider america a free country, its a israeli/jewish colony. first you need to free your own country and then preach freedom to other.
    4) america has been strategically checkmated by pakistan. all your fire power is useless because your master ( israel ) will never allow you to use it .israel would not like to be wiped out from the face of the earth……
now go on and show us your impotent rage , its fun watching people like you foaming .

  • Soccer says:

This is pathetic. Pakistan is on the offensive with their PR efforts.
It seems these days that Pakistan can negate the facts by making false, misleading advertisements as well as dressing up foreign ministers (ie. the new female one) that are COMPLETELY disconnected from the reality of the world as well as her own people. Her own people cannot afford to eat yet she is flying in to talk to Wolf Blitzer on lavish all-expenses-paid first class flights, there and back. It’s disgusting and repugnant.
It seems what passes for ‘governance’ in Pakistan these days is nothing but empty pap. No wonder people are turning to the Taliban, or fleeing in mass numbers, or going insane.

  • Charu says:

Obviously a sign of desperation on the part of the civilian elite who see their Ponzi scheme on the verge of collapse because their military masters are playing with fire. This is a last-ditch PR effort cooked up by some lobbyist firm on K street to stave off the impending loss of money that kept the Zardaris and Gillanis inside their walled-off million-dollar mansions.

  • CC says:

Hillbilly, I sincerely hope that you dont think that Pakistan has “checkmated” the USA. The dustbin of history is already full of tyrants who had the same viewpoint as yourself. Do not underestimate our resolve. War brought us out of the Great Depression, and war can also bring us out of our current economic predicament. The last thing you people want to see is our transition to wartime production. The USA can supply an army for years with our economy; Pakistan cannot sustain more than a few months of conflict. Nukes will get you nowhere unless youre willing to sacrifice your own population.

Yes,the might of Pakistan is the only reason the United States hasn’t come in and finished off the Caliphatist and Talib safe havens in Pakistan in a matter of days. That and the Judeo racial influence.Might also be the Al-Qaeda planted pharmaceutical drug residues in our water supply too.ANY thing’s possible in cooky Pakistani land.

I would be impressed if the Pro Pakistan commenters at the LWJ endorsed the same plans for their country (Pakistan) as what they would like to see done – happen in Afghanistan.
Could somebody from the Pro Pakistan side explain why Taliban rule is what the people in Afghanistan need, yet it isn’t needed in Pakistan? Both are majority Sunni (Afghanistan 80% and Pakistan 75%) countries, so it isn’t an attempt at punishing a country (Afghanistan) with a mjority Shia population.

whats wrong about this ad. Everything shown is a fact
Where is the mention of the attack on the Lal Masjid at the insistence of the Chinese? There was tremendous blowback from the militants because of that event, yet Pakistanis insist on assigning all of their problems to the U.S. and none to China.

Why is the US not able to root out taliban from Afghanistan despite all its resources and expecting Pakistan to take on Haqqani net work
The U.S. is able to deal with the Taliban in Afghanistan. The problem is and always has been the Taliban hiding, directing and funding from Pakistan.
    ———————————————–
expecting Pakistan to take on Haqqani net work when it is facing daily suicide attacks on its soil resulting in killings of innocents beside material damage just because it challenged a few of their sancturies.
When did the Pakistanis challenge Haqqani network sanctuaries? Please provide a link and documentation to support that statement or retract it.

Now taking on Haqqani net work will let lose hell for its population.
Pakistanis think that their situation at the moment is positive?

Pakistan has been involved with Afghanistan for many years, yet a Pro Pakistan person is advocating no foreign interference?
Things wouldn’t be this way if Pakistan would have taken care of things after the Embassy bombings in 1998.
If Pakistan is unhappy with their current situation, they should have made better decisions from 1998 onward until 9-11-2001.
Speaking of foreign interference in Afghanistan, why were there Pakistanis in Afghanistan in Fall 2001?

You are a fool, the US economy is pretty much finished, it can not be revived no matter how much more weapons US produce, i give it another 5 years before US dollar hyperinflate.

  • Neonmeat says:

    2) we will do every thing to get the americans out of this region .
    – It might help if you told us who exactly ‘we’ is?
You can always tell when a fanatic is on because despite what the subject is they always manage to bring Israel into it!
    4) Pakistan is only a viable country currently because America has made it so with Billions of dollars in aid. Pakistan is the next client nation, if not America then well Russia and China are more than willing to use all those corrupt politicians for there own ends. Pakistan is a country which will be used, first by the clerics within its borders that the Government can’t control, then by the nations that want it under their sphere of influence. Get used to it, the Pakistani people being abandoned by the Government.

  • Villiger says:

    hillbilly,
Wonderful, i’m glad something shook you out of your mellow slumber :)))
    A. I’m not American so you’re misfiring your missive. It reinforces the obvious limitations on your capabilities of deduction which were also on display in your recent dialogue with bard.
    B. Nevertheless, i thank you for proving the point that many are making here, which is that Pakistan has neither the will, nor the capability, to “promise” Peace to the World.
    C. The current debate about Palestine’s bid for statehood has quite obviously got you all riled up and left you frustrated. Take your frustration and issues on that elsewhere–this is the wrong forum to burst your veins on this one.
    D. Your threat of wiping out Israel from the face of the earth is nothing short of imbecilic and extremist, facets that are characterizing your society today led by your LeT’s, JuD’s and others, indeed the TTP itself, in your toxic alphabet soup.
    E. About the US being checkmated by Pakistan. Pakistan is only afloat because the US is keeping you so. Perfect, if you’ve lulled yourself into a false sense of security, despite all the loss of life, suicide bombs and mosques blown up enumerated in your video shows.
You are only sitting at the chessboard courtesy the US. The handful of billions that the US doles you is chickenfeed (Af costs $10 billion for just one month), but that still keeps your bankrupt-beggar ‘nation’/army/govt afloat. And keeps your Kayani, Zardari & Gilani, who all have their paws in the
    cookie-jar, engaged.
Try looking beyond the end of your nose and the smoke of your Afghani joint, and you will see the US still has options. Dominos is one of them–balkanize your country–you’ve been broken before. History has a tendency to repeat itself, especially when you haven’t learnt the lesson. An amphibious landing at Gwadar along with a declaration of all of Pak as a no-fly zone is another. I could go on.

  • jack says:

What a ‘fiction movie’; these guys deserve an oscar man! Wow, these guys can tell lies so very convincingly.
Hey you world listen to this, Pakistan army is our only saviour as it plans to turn the whole world into terror camp and all of us into terrorists. Wow, how exciting! Then we all would get to train by ISI and Mullahs in the name of religion…..we get guns and opium and missions o blow innocent/defence less people!….Woww….

  • Rjt says:

The Pakistani govt. and its ISI agency is all corrupt, fundings by Taliban has left it rotting from the roots itself!!India has always suffered from this, and the Indian govt. has in the past provided proof to the US and the other international community, that ISI breeds and train terrorists which fell on deaf ears, only after Osama Bin Ladin was killed in Pakistan did the world take notice.
Pakistani troops on the border with India break the ceasefire so that terrorists can be infiltrated into India. Now that India is a strong ally of The United States, Pakistan is going ahead and teaming up with China and buliding bunkers and airstrips on POK(pakistan occupied Kashmir) and then they expect that the other countries will not take notice of it!!!
Pakistan sends its foreign delegation to India to resolve issues, but till the time cross border terrorism does not stop and does not stop providing a haven to Taliban, and with their pathetic allegations that India does not want to resolve issues, nothing can be done.
Its sad but true that Taliban slowly and steadily taking control over Pakistan, its politicians, the army and its so called corrupt ISI agency.

  • jack says:

Have a look at this add. please, all the thinking people would get to see the real face behind this PR campaign!!
    http://i.imgur.com/kWmTw.png
The real face behind this propaganda is the ISI(Pakistan Army). Period.

  • Proud Kaffir says:

Thanks for the chuckle hillbilly. Pakistan and the bulk of it’s population are a joke, a third-rate nation that doesn’t deserve a penny of American money, be it civilian or military. Floods in Swat? Mass starvation? Let Pakistan pay for it and solve the problem because we all know they can’t. They’re a morally, socially, politically, economically, and intellectually bankrupt nation. They funnel that money away from civilian projects back into Pakistan’s terror networks that everyone (save the ignorant Pakistanis themselves) know they run. i.e. the Haqqani’s, LeT, etc.
Not that I have to remind anyone on here, but Pakistan is not our friend and never has been. Pakistan, ultimately is both the US and the worlds enemy #1 and no lame PR campaign that no one truly believes is going to change that. People like myself have been saying for years that we shouldn’t spend a dime on that waste of a country, and instead should be reinvesting it in both India and Afghanistan. We’ve wasted years and billions of dollars, and instead need to be aiming at the real terror-state: Pakistan.
