Kyrgyzstani intelligence officials claimed that ousted Prime Minister Bakiyev plotted with the al Qaeda-linked Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and Tajik Islamist groups to spark the ethnic violence that resulted in more than 2,000 deaths in the south. Two Bakiyev family members reportedly met with IMU leaders in Badakhshan.
