A US Navy warship prevented an attack on a Tanzanian ship and apprehended eight suspected pirates. Three Shabaab fighters were killed and their bodies abandoned in the area inside Bakara Market in Mogadishu. A Somali man is fighting extradition from the Netherlands to the US, which suspects him of supporting Shabaab. His lawyer argues that he is innocent and the crimes he is accused of would not be punishable under Dutch law.
