In Mogadishu, the information secretary of Hizbul Islam, Sheikh Mohamed Moallim, declared war against Shabaab. Shabaab killed a clan chief in Warmahan Village in the southern Lower Shabelle region and prohibited the World Food Programme from returning to southern Somalia unless it stops supplying US-flagged rations. Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki rejected claims that his country supports Shabaab.
