A Palestinian suicide bomber detonated in a bakery in Eilat, killing three people. The Cabinet approved Israel’s first Arab minister. The US Congress will be informed that Israel may have violated agreements with the US when it fired American-supplied cluster munitions into southern Lebanon, according to the State Department.

The Iraqi Army killed over 250 of what appears to be a mixed Sunni/Shia cult/insurgent group near Najaf. A US helicopter was brought down in the fighting, killing 2. Mahdi Army leaders are said to be fleeing to Iran. Over 1,500 policemen were fired in the Iraqi province of Diyala for failing to fight.


Somalia

One soldier and 8 civilians were killed in fighting in Mogadishu. A police station was also attacked. The government is blaming the Islamic Courts for the violence. Foreign terrorists from Yemen, Jordan, Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Syria, Comoros, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Morocco and Somalia were arrested in Kenya. Yemen has detained 240 suspected Islamists fleeing Somalia.
