Pakistan

‘Militants’ detonate a car bomb at the Peshawar airport, killing one and wounding several others. Pakistan is planning on mining segments of the Afghan border to prevent the flow of the Taliban. Musharraf said Pakistan’s nukes can withstand a nuclear strike.


Somalia

The Islamic Courts are retreating from strategic towns in south and central Somalia, and the Ethiopians are firing on retreating fighters. The UNSC is set to meet on Somalia today, while the African Union supports Ethiopian involvement.

A bomb in a Baghdad shopping area killed 10. Four Iranians, including two diplomats, were detained by American forces and released. President Talabani protested the arrests.
