Rebel shelling hit a weapons depot in a regime-controlled area of Homs, setting off explosions that killed 40 people and injured at least 160 more, some critically. President Assad made his first known public trip outside Damascus since March 2012, visiting the former rebel stronghold of Daraya. Clashes between allied Islamist forces and Kurdish fighters continued in Hasakah province; the Al Nusrah Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant launched two mortars in Ras al-Ein.
