Over a dozen suspected terrorist cases are being heard in Mauritanian courts in Nouakchott, including three Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb-linked men accused of killing a French teacher in Aleg on Dec. 24, 2007. Other terror-related cases are being heard related to the French murder, an attack on the Israel embassy, and individual terrorist offenses.
