Authorities have remanded into custody wanted terrorist Syed Kirmani, following his arrest on arrival in Hyderabad from an unidentified Gulf country on May 5; he is suspected of involvement in the 2003 ‘ISI conspiracy’ violence. Kirmani and his associate, Maulana Abdul Qavi, who was arrested in March, are allegedly linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad, and Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blasts, but security officials have been monitoring the Islamist terror group Indian Mujahideen more closely in recent weeks.

Police claim to have arrested four members of the Indian Mujahideen, including Pakistani bomb expert Zia Ur Rehman a.k.a. Waqas, in Rajasthan. The group was allegedly planning a “spectacular terror attack” in India, and a large quantity of explosives was seized. The Indian Mujahideen was listed as a terrorist group by the US in 2011 for its ties with the Lashkar-e-Taiba and other Pakistan-based outfits.
