Police busted an international drug trafficking ring with links to al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. The ring had a base in Mali and was connected to Latin American cartels. Six people, including two Spaniards, were arrested.

Authorities dismantled an 18-member jihadist cell that “was preparing to commit acts of terrorism and sabotage within national territory and against foreign interests in Morocco.” Three members have already served sentences for terrorist involvement. Authorities would not clarify the location of the arrests nor the specific targets of the cell.
Moroccan authorities have dismantled a terror cell planning attacks in the country. The 11-member group was led by a Palestinian, who will appear in court in the capital, Rabat. The cell’s planned attacks and identify of it’s members remain unknown. The Interior ministry declared them Takfiri Jihadists.

He is among 34 co-defendants sentenced from 30 years in prison to one-year suspended sentences for numerous crimes related to terrorist activities.

Security forces broke up an eight-man cell run by the Salafia Jihadia movement that operated in the towns of LaĆ¢youne, Guelmim, and Boujdour. The eight cell members were planning attacks inside Morocco. They were detained after being watched for months.
A Moroccan court sentenced 43 members of an al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb cell to jail terms between two to 20 years. Abdelkrim Makhloufi, the leader of the cell, was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Police arrested 35 members of an al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb-linked group known as Salafiya Jihadiya. The group recruited more than 30 jihadists and sent them to fight in Iraq, and was also planning terror attacks inside Morocco. Salafiya Jihadiya also has links to terror outfits in Lebanon, Syria, and Turkey.
Eleven members of an alleged al Qaeda-linked terrorist network were arrested in Morocco this week after plans for attacks in that North African country and in Belgium were uncovered. Investigators said the terror cell was affiliated to al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and recruited volunteers to fight in Iraq.
