The Detachment 88 antiterrorism unit arrested 10 Islamist militants in raids in Java and Borneo and seized a dozen bombs that the militants were planning to use in suicide attacks against the parliament and security forces. The militants recruited for terror attacks and ran a jihadist training camp.
In Jakarta, hundreds of protesters from the Islamic Society Forum clashed with police outside the US Embassy and hurled Molotov cocktails and tried to ignite a fire truck. Protests took also place in Medang and Badung. In Solo, protesters stormed KFC and McDonald’s restaurants, forcing them to close.
Six people, including three terrorists and three civilians, were wounded in an explosion at a bomb factory in Depok in the Jakarta suburbs. Two of the terrorists escaped.

One of five suspects arrested for a church bombing led authorities to raid several locations in Medan, North Sumatra. The suspects, some of whom were IT experts, had assets of $848,000 that were allegedly used to fund terrorism. Detachment 88 said that Frederic C. Jean Salvi, a French citizen, orchestrated the March 21 bombing at the French embassy in Jakarta. Salvi reportedly studied at a madrassa and is linked to Islamist terrorists in Indonesia.
