Rebel forces loyal to former vice president Riek Machar fired on at least two US Osprey aircraft that were on their way to the rebel stronghold of Bor in Jonglei state to evacuate American citizens. Four US troops were wounded in the attack, one seriously. Rebels also fired on and disabled a United Nations helicopter that was attempting to evacuate civilians from Yuai in Jonglei. The US military is reportedly reviewing "further options" to support humanitarian efforts in the country. Machar claimed that his forces have taken over Unity state.
