Dand district governor defies Taliban


Al Jazeera English reports on Hamdullah Nazek, the governor of the Dand district in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. Nazek has maintained his position despite a recent Taliban resurgence and 12 assassination attempts.

I think it would be interesting to know what the peoples' perception is? Why is that their perception? Here they are amongst themselves, apparently, not a lot of interference from foreigners, but not a whole lot of people seem to have joined the fight against the taliban/al qaeda.
