Al Sumaria has released photographs of al Qaeda in Iraq’s top two leaders. At left is Abu Bakr al Baghdadi al Husseini al Qurshi, the emir or leader of al Qaeda’s so-called Islamic State of Iraq. At right is Nasser al Din Allah Abu Suleiman, the Islamic State of Iraq’s war minister. The photographs were discovered after the Iraqi Interior Minister forces captured Hazem Abdul Razzaq Al Zawi, the interior minister for the Islamic State of Iraq [for more information on the capture of Zawi, see LWJ report, Al Qaeda in Iraq’s security minister captured in Anbar].

Bakr has been identified as Dr. Ibrahim Awad Ibrahim Al Samarrai, and is also known as Abu Duaa’. Suleiman has been identified as Neaman Salman Mansour al Zaidi. Both Bakr and Suleiman had been detained at the Camp Bucca prison in Basrah province.
