According to SITE Intelligence Group:

A jihadist announced that he will soon release a cartoon he created about al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) in a message posted on jihadist forums on July 17, 2011. He touted the cartoon as an "educational production" to teach youths about the "noble life" within a Shariah-based system, and wrote that it will contain depictions of AQAP operations and will incite youths to follow the steps of the fighters. The jihadist provided some screen captures from the cartoon, showing fighters engaged in military operations.

Upon questioning from fellow forum members and asking that he take advice from scholars about properly presenting the fighters, the jihadist wrote that he will submit the cartoon to scholars and AQAP's media arm, al-Malahem Foundation, for approval prior to its release.

The red glowing eyes and lack of eyeballs is really a nice touch. With no eyes, I think of no soul, no feeling or empathy - emptiness of independent thought. Leaves no doubt as to the nihilistic evil at play.

American comic superheros could take them on just as they are depicted, and it would be clear to even young kids who the bad guys are. (not considering even if these comics depict the 'nobility' found in slaughtering civilian men, women, and children).
