A federal judge ordered the release of Mohamedou Ould Slahi from the Guantanamo Bay detention facility. Slahi helped to recruit members of the Sept. 11, 2001, attack on the US while in Germany and is accused of involvement in other al Qaeda attacks. The US military had sought the death penalty for Slahi.
