The US and partner nations have carried out six airstrikes in Iraq and five in Syria against the Islamic State since yesterday morning. Al Qaeda-linked cleric Abu Hamza a.k.a. Mustafa Kamel Mustafa, 56, was sentenced to life in prison by a US federal court for crimes including his attempt to set up a terrorist training camp in Oregon. Military officials said the Pentagon will request $51 billion in war funding for next year, down from the $64 billion approved last year. The deputy commander for US forces in Afghanistan has said that US troops at the 23 remaining Forward Operating Bases in the country will still face risks even though they are no longer going on kill-and-capture missions.
