Suspected Boko Haram militants threw a bomb at a Catholic church in Kano, killing at least five people and wounding eight more. A teenage female suicide bomber detonated near Kano University, killing herself and wounding five police officers. Kano police arrested three suspects in connection with the church attack and two more linked to a failed attempt to bomb the Isyaku Rabiu Mosque. On July 25, police clashed with a Shiite Islamist movement in Zaria in Kaduna state; 35 people were said to have been killed.
