Gunmen killed two police brigadier generals in Sheikh Zuwayed in North Sinai yesterday. The military claimed to have killed a senior Ansar Jerusalem leader as well as two other jihadists. Ansar Jerusalem claimed that three of its members were killed when an Israeli drone struck their car in the Sinai. An Egyptian was arrested while trying to cross over into Israel with explosives he planned to use for an attack. A senior military official said "unprecedented" quantities of arms, ammunition, and drugs are being smuggled into Egypt from Libya. Egyptian authorities said that a claim of responsibility purportedly from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham for last week's murder of 22 border guards was traced to a Twitter account belonging to Ansar Jerusalem (Ansar Bayt al Maqdis).
