Boko Haram is said to have increased operations in Cameroon. On May 5, Boko Haram attacked gendarmes in the far northern city of Kousseri, killing three, including a woman. Some 200 Cameroonians are reportedly training in Boko Haram camps in Nigeria. Residents of Gamboru in Nigeria who fled a Boko Haram attack chose to stay in Cameroon. Cameroonian forces freed 18 civilians kidnapped by Seleka rebels in the Central African Republic early this month. On May 9, security forces in Youande arrested two men seeking to fly to the US via Brussels with suspected explosives in their hand luggage.
