Soldiers in the Borno state capital of Maiduguri fired on Maj. Gen. Ahmed Mohammed, whom they blamed for the deaths of their comrades in a Boko Haram ambush. Vigilantes in Borno yesterday ambushed two trucks of Boko Haram militants who were allegedly planning to attack, killing scores of militants and detaining at least 10. The Adamawa state governor reiterated his opposition to emergency rule. Federal officials warned religious groups against making inflammatory statements about Boko Haram's kidnapping of over 200 schoolgirls. After Interpol issued a red alert for Nyana bombing suspect Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, the UK-born militant, who once served with Nigerian intelligence and was thought to be in Sudan, was reportedly arrested there.
