Despite the government shutdown, active duty US military personnel remain on duty. Sabirhan Hasanoff, who pled guilty to plotting with al Qaeda to attack the New York Stock Exchange, was sentenced to 18 years in prison. A military judge decided not to pause proceedings for 9/11 defendants whose lawyers alleged concerns about confidentiality of government computer networks.
