The Medal of Honor was awarded to former Army captain William Swenson, for heroic action at the Battle of Ganjgal in Afghanistan on Sept. 8, 2009. In federal court in Manhattan, Anas al Libi, a.k.a. Nazih Abdul-Hamed al-Ruqai, pled not guilty to terrorism charges relating to al Qaeda's 1998 bombings of the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, in which 224 people were killed.
