Libya's Minister of Social Affairs resigned in protest against the assassinations in Benghazi and the government's lack of response to them. At least one soldier was killed during clashes in Benghazi. Protesters attacked the Tripoli headquarters of the Islamist al-Watan (Nation) political party. Over 1,000 prisoners who escaped from Kuafiyia prison in Benghazi are still at large. Special forces colonel Abdesalam Jadallah was named the new army chief of staff. A French forensics team arrived to help investigate the Benghazi assassinations and bombings.
